how do you know you’re in love?

how do you know you’re in love, rather than just in like?
do you know by the kisses he gives you? and how they make your bodies feel like they romantically burst into flames, making the two bodies now one. one in love.
or do you know by the way he say your name?
“…Mercedes”
when he says it, it doesn’t sound like the english phonetic spelling that my teachers do on the first day of class, but rather, it sounds like waves flirting with the shore of lake michigan,
rising when the night comes.
how do you know you’re in love?
do you know by the way he touches you? and how, when he touches you it feels like electricity that doesn’t kill, but gives life. electricity that raises the hairs on the back of your neck and leaves a mark on your soul that spells “my darling dearest was here”.

i don’t know if those are signs of the L word, but, i think i’m in love.
